Moab Again

Last month we took another trip down to Moab with my parents and Brittney, Hannah and James.  We left Justin and Peter at home to work on Peter's house.  The guys had a fun bachelor's weekend and ended up playing 18 holes of golf, catching a movie and grilling steaks in addition to finishing the railing on Peter's new front porch.  We had an equally fun time playing in the pool.  Barrett spent almost 6 hours straight in the pool and then threw a huge tantrum when we finally forced him to get out.  It hit 104 degrees the day we left, but with the air conditioned house and the pool we hardly noticed the heat.  We did go through several boxes of popsicles though.
We all survived a fool hardy hike to Negro Bill Canyon that I orchestrated in order to give Ruby some exercise.  We ended up not leaving until mid-morning and the sand was so hot that the dogs would sit down and cry because it burned their paws.  We ended up walking down the creek because it was so extremely hot.  Also Barrett and James refused to walk unless they were in the creek.  Britt unluckily slipped on the mossy rocks on the bottom of the creek and got her digital camera wet.  Now the screen no longer functions.  There were some small crayfish in the creek and we got Brynne and Hannah part way down the creek before they freaked out because they were scared of the crayfish.  After that I freaked out a bit when I encountered the most poison ivy I've ever seen since moving from Connecticut.  It was horrifying.  I'm extremely allergic to that hideous plant, but luckily none of us broke out in a rash even though I know Ruby walked through it.  We were all relieved to finally reach our cars at which point we realized that the dog leashes had gotten left way back up the trail.  We left them there.  I'm never going on a hike without Justin ever again!

My baby after successfully rolling in the kayak.
How can she be old enough to be doing stuff like this?
I'm going to limit her kayaking to the pool for as long as I can.

Barrett on the slide.

Brynne and Hannah spent hours jumping off the diving board.
Those rash guards were the best thing I ever bought.  It
was so nice to not have to reapply sunscreen every couple hours.

Grandma bought for the bunk room.  Granddad said the
roundabout looks just the one by the Outlet Mall every
Saturday.  Our boys have to take their entire collection
of cars with them every time we travel anywhere.
