Today was Blythe's last day of school before Christmas break. She was supposed to either dress as her favorite Christmas character or wear an ugly sweater. So this morning she walked into my closet and asked for an ugly sweater. I told her that due to my excellent taste I don't own an ugly sweater, but told her to feel free to look through my sweaters. She proceeded to do so and quickly realized that none of them were ugly.
We then looked for Justin's "banana bread" sweater that he wore every Christmas for about 10 years, but quickly realized that I had given it away. Blythe was getting discouraged, but then I had a brainstorm. I reached up to the top shelf of my closet and pulled down a sweater. I told Blythe that this was not an "ugly" sweater, but it was slightly outdated. Okay, maybe more than slightly outdated, since I bought it in either 1988 or 1989. I told Blythe, "Look it's even a cropped sweater." She thought it was great and decided to wear it to school.
I remembered that I had a photo of myself wearing this same sweater while standing in front of our Christmas tree the first year we lived in Park City. It was 1989 and I was 15. I talked Blythe into letting me take a few pictures of her in front of our Christmas tree. (See above)
Me wearing the same sweater 21 years ago.I still don't think it's a bad looking sweater.
It's from Laura Ashley after all.
This would have been a much better candidatefor the ugly sweater day. It was actually a sweatshirt
and I remember not liking it very much, but I wore it
to a family party that same Christmas and so I ended
up with a photo of it. I think my hair looks pretty
good for 1989, but the pink nail polish is another story!
It was fun seeing Blythe wearing my old sweater that
I totally loved. She even wore it to a party tonight.
(I think she secretly thinks it's kind of cute!)

Yeah, it's about a foot too short! That definitely qualifies it for the ugly sweater club. I guess in 1989 your way-too-high pants kind of make up for your way-too-short sweater!
CLASSIC! And I will give Blythe more babysitting jobs for Christmas.
I love how nostalgic you are Jill. Very, very cute.
P.S. I like the Christmas sweater! Niiiice. That is a cute pic of you.
