Escape

Saturday afternoon we fled cold, rainy/sleety/snowy Park City for the comparative warmth and sunshine of Moab.  My parents and Peter and Brittney and kids had been down there since Friday. I was feeling a little guilty about leaving Park City and possibly on a very, very, very slim chance bringing the H1N1 virus with us.  However, I rationalized that we are staying at my parents house that only family and friends come to and with the pool we don't need to go anywhere else.  We aren't going to go to the movie theatre or miniature golfing or church.  An adult will go to the grocery store for food and that's about it.
The men left for home last night and the women, kids and dogs are here until either next weekend or whenever we get tired of being down here.  When we left my foot was still so sore and swollen that I thought that there was no way I'd be able to drive the four hours home.  My Mom has been rubbing lavender essential oil into my foot and the swelling and bruising have gone down considerably.  I have been walking on my foot again since yesterday afternoon and can get around without my crutches.  I'm still not up for any hiking and I'm limping a bit, but it's SO nice to not have to be on crutches anymore.  I really believe that the lavender oil has helped my foot a ton.
My Dad finally got the pool open and ready for swimming late yesterday afternoon.  He and Justin turned on the heater, but the water was still ice cold when the kids got in yesterday. Justin was the only adult to brave the icy water and he didn't stay in long.  When we put Barrett in the tub after he finally was too cold to swim anymore his little arms and legs turned bright red.  He was starving so I fixed him a sandwich which he ate and then asked for a bowl of cereal like James had.  He was almost all finished when he felt asleep while sitting on the stool at the counter with  his hand still on his spoon.  It was so cute.  We kept the pool heater on all night on the hottest setting, so it should be comfortable today.  We are hoping that the pool will keep the kids busy and out of our hair.
